Bloom Where You Are Planted

The roses have begun to bloom. Right on time, the first weekend of June. Mostly they are still tight little buds but a few have blown fully open. "I'm here!" they shout. "Did I miss anything?"

Today I met a rose that was born the same year I was. The Arizona. It is a Grandiflora, not a tea rose. It's a bright coral hybrid. Its mutations are beautiful.

I wish I were as accepting of my own mutations.
